Without Lance I doubt that most of the tours would
ever get off the ground as his knowledge of battlefields is second to none. Lance has been the Treasurer for NMBS and
this role make sure that all trips run smoothly. Lance comes from a family with strong links to the RAF. His father served the RAF for many years and this saw
Lance travel all over the world, and this is where his "Battlefield bug" came from this became greater when his
parents moved to France and Lance visited the battlefields to and from his parents.
It is on one of these
trips that he visited and wrote the web page on this site on Operation Dragoon, the allied invasion of southern France –
the “Second D-Day”. Like Steve and Kevin, Lance is a strong Socialist Trade Unionist - which links to many wars around the world
from The Spanish Civil War to the Murder of Trade Unionists in the Nazi death camps.

Lance also does some of the cooking for the NMBS and
his Indian curries and especially his tandoori chicken are firm favourites within the Society. His other great passion is Everton FC, which at times must be hard with four Manchester United
fans in NMBS.
Lance is somewhat the "Daredevil" of NMBS and is always first in a foxhole, tunnel
and trench or as his picture shows at the side of a raging river (The Soldiers Leap in Scotland). He has
been on every NMBS trip apart from Normandy in 2004 due to the fact he was sitting the exam for his law degree, nevertheless,
his strong comradeship with the NMBS he found time in his cramming to give the other NMBS boys a life to and from Liverpool
airport.

Lance is the NMBS very own Quentin Tarantino.
