Kevin Hunt.  The NMBS Diarist and Author

AAKEV.jpg

Kevin joined the NMBS in 2004 and his first trip was the Normandy D-Day celebrations for the 60th Anniversary and has been on every trip since.

Kevin interest in Battlefields began as a child when watching war films with his mates Ricko's Dad (David Richardson). His interests include building his own website which covers a number of things from Moston – Where Kevin lives (and produces a good humoured banter between Kevin and Steve on the rivalry between Manchester and Salford),the actress Genevieve Bujold, the Non-league football team FC United of Manchester (FCUM) and of course his site includes the NMBS.

The site is still mainly under construction, but you can access Mostonian.com via the links page.
Kevin's love of FCUM has seen him help out on the turnstiles, in the development office, fund-raising and he even writes for the FCUM Fanzine "Under the Boardwalk". He has been a campaigner for FC United attempt to build a new stadium, which will have benefits for the whole community.

Like Steve, Kevin is a keen photographer and some of the pictures on this site are examples of Kevin’s eye for a good picture.

Ardennes 2008

Kevin wrote the NMBS Book - "Four Journeys" an extremely funny and at times poignant book about the trials, tribulations, sights and times of four NMBS trips.

The trip to Arnhem was a touching one for Kevin as he found and laid flowers at the grave of his Grandmothers first husband, Tommy Stubbs.  Tommy and Kev's Nana (Rose Keegan) were married in Newton Heath in Manchester on April 24th 1944.  Less than a year later Tommy died as part of the allies push into Germany (Operation Varsity) Tommy died on 24th March 1945 - 11 months after his wedding, and 6 weeks before the end of the war.  Tommy was buried in Reichswald Cemetery, not far from the Dutch German border.

Ypres 2007

Kevin has provided the NMBS with some of the best “Deadly Medley” music on our trips - and is the NMBS DJ - much to Stuart's disgust at 2am one morning during The Ypres trip.
